OUR BUSINESS
KonAgro’s strategic points of participation in the chosen value chains are as follows:
Maize
KonAgro has invested in the establishment of a maize milling plant located on a farm owned by the Company’s shareholders. The farm is located 68.5km peg on the Harare Masvingo Highway, just outside the farming town of Beatrice. The plant has a capacity to produce 50 tons of roller meal and super refined maize meal per day. In addition, the plant produces 7.5 tons of maize bran per day, which is fed into the Company’s Feedlot operations.
Feedlot
Leveraging on the shareholders’ investments in livestock, KonAgro has established a feedlot where cattle and smaller ruminants like goats and sheep are fattened and readied for the slaughter market in nearby Harare. Soon there will be infrastructure in place to operate a one thousand herd feedlot. The beef value chain was chosen due to its synergies with maize milling.
Poultry
Like the feedlot business unit, the poultry value chain has synergistic linkages to the maize value chain. The unit also has synergies with the Feedlot. The nucleus of the poultry business unit are the two broiler houses on Enslindale Farm. These two houses have capacity to produce 10,000 broiler chickens every seven weeks. Presently, the broilers raised are sold to cash buyers from Mbare and other high-density suburbs in Harare. Going forward, KonAgro’s plan is to enter a contract grower arrangement with an established poultry industry player.
We plan to produce 100,000 broilers by third quarter 2023.

OUR PEOPLE
The KonAgro business team is led by a board of directors led by the executive chairman and CEO, Mr. Herbert Makuwa. Mr. Makuwa is an experienced business executive with expertise in retail banking, agrobusiness (having worked for one of the world’s largest food companies), investment banking and venture capital. On the operations side, Mr. Makuwa is assisted by a capable team of accountants and administrators, as well as technically competent plant operators who possess relevant milling, livestock and broiler production experience.
OUR LOCATION AND PREMISES
KonAgro Industries is strategically domiciled on Enslindale Farm, a farm owned under title deeds by the shareholders since 2001. The farm is located about one hour from Harare, on the Harare-Masvingo highway. This location provides the business with a tranquil and logistically strategic domicile. Enslindale Farm is equidistance from Harare and the fast-growing town of Chivhu. The Harare – Beit Bridge highway location also presents logistical advantages to the KonAgro business.
